Abstract A method is given for computing the rate coefficient of a unimolecular reaction as an eigenvalue solution of an integral master equation, based on Nesbet's algorithm, which overcomes computational difficulties associated with this problem. An illustrative fit to pressure-dependent data on the pyrolysis of azoethane is presented.
