The second permanent Victoria Bridge opened in 1897 and operated until replaced by the third permanent bridge in 1969. At the Queen Street side of the bridge is a large sign advertising Plume petrol, which dominates the entrance to the bridge. Plume benzine was introduced in 1916 by the Vacuum Oil Company. The Plume brand name was replaced with Mobilgas in 1954. Reference: Unidentified (1939). Electric trams travelling along Queen Street from the Victoria Bridge, Brisbane, 1939.
