Ethics in business has become an increasingly important; issue to both the general public and researchers. However, little attention has been focused on ethics in retailing. Given the apparent need for a clearer understanding of the status of ethics and ethical values held and practised by retailers, the present research has been conducted.
This study attempts to describe and understand the ethical behaviour of retailing executives and managers in particular situations. Results of a mail survey of retailers in Queensland are provided. Discussion centres on the findings of this survey and comparisons are drawn between retailers in Australia and the United States.
