Current literature on competitive strategies for manufacturing firms in the 1990's puts forward the notion that time based strategies are becoming increasingly important in terms of maintaining competitive advantage. This report will investigate whether applying Business Process Engineering and adopting Quick Response Philosophy via concepts of Quick Response Manufacturing will offer a competitive advantage in a mature market. The report will integrate three bodies of literature to establish this link and apply a formal model of process reengineering to a Queensland Clay Brick Manufacturing Site. The discussion and results will confirm the opportunity to establish competitive advantage in the mature Queensland Clay Brick Manufacturing Market via the implementation of Quick Response Manufacturing providing a recommendation to investigate the reality of undertaking this process. The report also highlights the limitations associated with its construction.
