The focus of this report is to provide a summary of the Internet and the issues that concern managers when connecting to the Internet. The report is aimed at increasing managements' understanding of the Internet by examining the functionality, terminology, benefits and risks associated with connecting a business to the Internet.

Through my experience in the Information Technology Industry, I realised that many mangers, administrators and users lack the fundamental knowledge of the Internet necessary to plan, implement and use the Internet effectively This lack of understanding ultimately restricts communication between management and technical personnel (either employees or consultants) which can result in the ineffective implementation and use of the Internet. This report, is designed to increase non-technical manager's understanding of the Internet so that communication with information technology personnel can be enhanced.
