Chapter one provides a general overview of subjects pertaining to world agricultural trade. It also introduces the topics that will be addressed during tins paper.

Chapter two evaluates the role GATT has played in liberalising world agricultural markets and examines the success or failure of the multilateral trade rounds that preceded the Uruguay Round.

Chapter three investigates the three groups/countries that have dominated discussions during previous multilateral trading talks.

Chapter four follows progress and investigates the history of the relatively new groups that submitted proposals during the Uruguay Round.

Chapter five summarises the details of three completely different studies done on the subject of agriculture reform.

Chapter six follows the six year path of the Uruguay Round and concludes on the likelihood of a successful conclusion to tile agricultural negotiations.

Chapter seven concludes this paper by making judgements on the future of GATT and the success of the Uruguay Round.
