This thesis examines employment change in Queensland in the period 1971 to 1981 inclusive. Its main intent is to examine the contribution of the state’s statistical divisions to the state’s performance, with the view to examining the spatial distribution of economic activity in Queensland. Sift-share analysis is employed to this end and this particular technique is examined in light of its capabilities and limitations. The prime conclusion is that activity in the state in concentrated in the coastal regions of the state.
