This thesis re-examines the controversial issue of causality between foreign aid and LDCs domestic savings. The Dickey-Fuller [1979] unit root test is conducted on time series data for 41 LDCs. Most of the series can not reject the null hypothesis of non-stationarity. The Granger [1969] causality test is applied to test the causality between foreign aid and LDCs domestic savings. Tests are conducted on both the levels and first-difference data series. Results are found to be inconsistent with the empiric of P. Bowles[1987]. The relatively new technique of testing for cointegration is applied to test each pairs of foreign aid and domestic savings series. The results showed that there is a long run causal relationship between foreign aid and LDCs domestic savings for African and Asian countries.
