Formatted abstract In this thesis an attempt is made to present the effect on the Queensland economy of a reduction in the amount of coal produced, in an endeavour to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. Due to the different ways this reduction could take place, this thesis has presented various scenario situations using a mix of input output and econometric techniques.
