Formatted abstract This project discusses the process of Indonesia's industrialisation since the 1970s. The findings of this project indicate that the role of industrial sector in the Indonesian economy has become more important when the government reoriented its industrial strategy from import substitution to export orientation. However, it must be pointed out that the process of industrialisation through implementing export orientation strategy still face many problems to be overcome. These problems are primarily related to policy and procedural impediment. Therefore, it is suggested that the government of Indonesia must be more pro-active, responsive, and consistent in remedying these problems to make more successful the implementation of export orientation strategy.
