This Thesis is concerned with the evaluation of the economics performance of the Australian states from 1970 to 1980-81. The scope of this Thesis involves the processing of statistical data on the State economies, by the use of various tabular and graphical representations that are utilized in order to clearly depict the relative and absolute performance of the State for a variety of economic indicators and sectors (manufacturing, agriculture, mining). The Thesis concludes that Queensland and Western Australia outperformed the other States on an aggregate level but when per capita measurements of economics performance were the assessment criteria, New South Wales and Victoria displayed relatively better performance.
