Abstract/Summary This paper explores the planting of Swedenborgianism in Brisbane, with specific reference to the New Church of Jerusalem. It refers to and includes its Anglican origins and lay leaders (particularly polymath Silvester Diggles and stationer George Slater), as well as its role in colonial tile and the effort to differentiate itself from the prevailing denominations and prejudicial attitudes.
