This report examines the transitions in and out of caring, carer needs and the use of interventions and services by carers and their care recipients. The current study was a substudy of the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health and included 296 women that participated in pilot surveys for the 1946-1951 cohort. Of the participants, 199 were noncarers and 97 were carers. All participants were asked about their general health, wellbeing and access to services in the first section of the survey.
The second section was relevant only to women who were currently providing care to someone with a long-term illness, disability or frailty, and asked about caring activities and access to services for the care recipient.
