Abstract Placentae from pregnancies complicated by pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) secrete significantly more 15-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (15-HETE) than gestation-matched controls. 15-HETE and its hydroperoxy precursor can inhibit prostacyclin biosynthesis and may thus contribute to the pathological sequelae of PIH.
