Formatted Abstract/Summary
The internationally recognised and recorded Griffith Trio (Michele Walsh (violin), Markus Stoker (cello) and Stephen Emmerson (piano)), are the Ensemble in Residence at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University. On 2 June 2007 the Griffith Trio acoustically energised the University of Queensland with a virtuosic unison of hearts, minds and skill in a performance of the Loviisa Trio by Jean Sibelius. The piano trio was later joined by Rachel Smith (violin) and Patricia Pollett (viola) with the formidable five musicians easily eclipsing the technical, emotive and almost symphonically powerful demands of Sir Edward Elgar's Piano Quintet in A Minor, Op 84.

Recorded by 4MBS Classic FM for radio broadcast.
