Abstract/Summary This presentation outlines the evolution of architectural design trends, from barrier free and accessible design to adaptable and universal design, and the influence of these changes on outcomes for older people and people with disabilities who have specific housing requirements. A particular focus will include showcasing Australia wide examples of private and social housing incorporating universal design features that positively impact on older people and people with a disability living in the community.
