Abstract Aminoglycosides are bactericidal agents that are used in the treatment of life-threatening infections caused by Gram-negative pathogens. They exert their antibacterial property by blocking the peptide bond-forming translocation process through binding to the aminoacyl site (A-site) of the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) that constitutes the bacterial 30S ribosome.
