Abstract/Summary The Geology building, first occupied in 1951, was named for Professor Henry C. Richards who had joined the University in 1911 and was later appointed the first Professor of Geology and Mineralogy (1919-1947). He was the Dean of the Faculty of Science from 1923-1924, 1932-1934 and 1940-1941, and President of the Board of Faculties (now the Academic Board) from 1925-1931.
