Abstract/Summary Dr James O’Neil Mayne, in association with his sister Miss Mary Emelia Mayne, provided over £50,000 to the Brisbane City Council to resume 274 acres of land at St Lucia and provide it to the University as its permanent home. He and his sister also donated 280 hectares of land at Pinjarra Hills, now the site of the Veterinary Science Farm. Their estates continue to benefit the university, most significantly through purchase of equipment and material for the University of Queensland Mayne Medical School.
