Abstract/Summary Libraries used to be designed for librarians – keepers of the knowledge. The interior and exterior design was collection centric. Many library spaces have changed dramatically over the last 10 years. They have moved from what has been called generation one (storehouses of information) to generation four (connected learning spaces). Library spaces are transforming to cater for both the social and learning needs of users. This paper will report on the findings of surveys following the refurbishment of a large branch library at the University of Queensland Library. It will also touch on some of the services the Library has implemented that embrace Web 2.0 technology paralleling the physical changes to provide an enhanced library student experience.
