Abstract Despite obtaining good views of the laryngeal inlet with the bronchoscope and passing the tip of the fibreoptic bronchoscope into the subglottic space, the authors were unable to railroad the Aintree catheter (AIC) off the bronchoscope into the laryngeal inlet. Following several unsuccessful attempts at rotation of the AIC and classic laryngeal mask airway repositioning, the technique was abandoned in favour of direct laryngoscopy and intubation.
