Abstract N-acetylcysteine has been shown to reduce the viscosity and structure of the gastric mucous layer. Studies have shown the effectiveness of antibiotic eradication of H pylori has also been improved with the use of N-acetylcysteine in combination with standard therapy. (non-author abstract)
