Abstract/Summary For special education courses in schools of early childhood, primary and secondary education. Educating Children with Diverse Abilities 2e, continues with the concept of inclusive curriculum and the diversity of learning needs. With the restructure of special education departments, the second edition has been revised to give students a broad understanding of the principles of inclusive education, and the ways in which teachers can accommodate the differing learning needs of their students. The text has been split into three sections, each dedicated to specific areas of interest. Section 1 Environments: Looks at the significant impact families have on the education process and deals with the general issues relating to all learning situations. Section 2 Essentials: Introduces students to several foundations of the education process. These include designing classrooms and activities that cater to individual needs, deals with intellectual skills, literacy and numeracy and highlights the importance of technology and its use in the classroom. Section 3 Challenges: Shows students the ways in which classrooms, curricula, and teaching practices can be adapted to provide a creative and supportive environment for students with diverse needs. New case studies have been added to give students real life scenarios to consider and analyse. By showing them that teaching does not come from reading alone and the benefit of practical activities will allow them to gain insight and knowledge into the diversity of childrens learning needs.
