Abstract The large sand islands and mainland beaches near Brisbane have become a focus of attention for geologists and geomorphologists using seismic profiling techniques and side scan sonar in both marine and fluvial investigations to better understand the subaqueous Quaternary geology of the Moreton Bay area and parts of the Great Barrier Reef province.
