Abstract/Summary The world is experiencing a range of political, economic and military crises. There is a very rapid expansion in the amount and intensity of both personal and collective violence. Violence is a if not the challenge of the 21st century. How we deal with it will determine whether or not we have peaceful futures. This may be a non-violent moment in world affairs but it will only become so if we embrace the opportunities while not being cowered by the challenges!
